I have had the Mirena IUD for over three years. I’ve gained weight and felt bloated on a consistent basis, so I asked my OBGYN to remove the Mirena. He went to remove it last Monday and pulled out the string ONLY. The device came loose from the string apparently, so now I’m headed into surgery to have the Mirena removed. After a sonogram and X-ray, I was relieved to see that the Mirena did not migrate anywhere. However, the potential for the device to migrate or be defective is great. Please be aware of the possibility and know that the device has the potential to move and malfunction. I’ll be glad to get it out!! The removal procedure has involved me in three additional trips to the doctor plus a day off for surgery. I hope to recover quickly because I can’t miss work.
great info! It’s nice to see that there are actually lawyers out there who are willing to put up a fight because when I was having problems with the Mirena IUD I was told that no lawyer would ever bother trying to fight a huge drug company.
45,000 complaints against Mirena?! That really scares me since I have the Mirena IUD. I keep seeing commercials on daytime TV about all the bad side effects of Mirena and to call but I wanted to do some research first… hence the reason I found this site! Tons of great information. Luckily I have not yet experienced any bad side effects but I’ll have to see my doctor to make sure.
